Affirmative Action creates reverse racism.
I do not agree that affirmative action will lead
to reverse racism. The purpose of affirmative action is to create equal
opportunities for the groups that get discriminated against such as minorities,
women, LGBT community, and religious groups. Affirmative action does not really
address the source of discrimination, instead it serves only to act as a
tiny Band-Aid for a large fatal wound. Affirmative action does not, cannot, and
will not stop people’s racist beliefs. Although affirmative action attempts to
create a level playing field in work places, most employers will only tend to hire
minorities or other individuals to fill a quota in order to pretend that they
are not racist/sexist/etc. They would often put their “token minority” on
public display as to proof that they are not discriminating against anyone. This
has its flaws because I believe that affirmative action is just a made up
attempt to atone for the sins of our country’s racist past, and a double standard
that threatens every citizen’s liberties. It is all just one big attempt to end
discrimination with more discrimination.
