Affirmative action is the process of favoring those racial groups that have been the victims of racism over the years. By doing this, the playing field for all races become more equal, although not all the time. Affirmative action is not reverse racism because you are not putting down a different race by doing this, you are promoting your own race, or those races that have been treated unfairly for many years. Instead of companies discriminating against minorities they promote people who come from these backgrounds and hire them. This isn't taking jobs away from those who truly deserve it, since all people are held to the same standard. Racism is a belief that one race is either superior or inferior to another race. Yet affirmative action isn't the act of putting down another race, it's simply promoting the ones that have been downgraded by society.
